April 4th, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the past two weeks, I have been spending my time making hundreds of washable, handmade face masks, which were donated to health centers, veterinarians, homeless shelters and service workers. While I am continuing to donate to these places, I am also making these masks available to individuals on a donation basis (I have been doing this periodically, but am making this post to streamline the process).\u00a0 The CDC recently announced a recommendation to wear a mask outside of the house at all times (but please only leave the house if you absolutely have to).<\/p>\n

If you would like one of the masks, I am shipping them (U.S. only) and also offering a safe pick up in Newton, MA. There is a recommended donation of $10<\/strong> per mask to cover the cost of materials and to help with the costs of the donations to health centers. Since I love science and fashion so much, I have a few styles to chose from. They can be made in child size as well and will come with washing instructions.<\/p>\n

If you would like a mask, contact me directly by emailing TheAstronista@gmail.com – donations can be made through PayPal, Venmo, or cash if picked up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When emailing, feel free to introduce yourself! I would love to know a little bit about you, but don’t feel like you need to. The information that I NEED is:<\/strong>
-How many adult masks do you need and what style(s)?
-How many child masks do you need and what style(s)?
-Will you be picking up the mask(s) or having them shipped?
-Your shipping address if applicable (Shipping First Class is $4, Priority Mail is $8)<\/p>\n

I will respond to you with confirmation of your request and information for you on how to donate. I am very quick to respond and plan on having any masks requested in the mail or available for pick up within 24 hours of the request. I understand many of us are in a difficult financial situation, so the $5 per mask donation is not a hard “price” but what would cover the materials.<\/p>\n
